All men must die.

One of the marked difference between children and adults is their relationship with this phrase.

Children haven’t lived long enough to have that sense of grief that accumulates from loved ones passing.

As you become an adult and grow into middle age people start losing their parents and you realize that some day it’ll be your turn. It’s crazy to know there’s grief waiting ahead. And morbidly, only increasing loss until one day it’s your actual turn to go.
